Co-Sponsors Sought for Pro-Industry Bill

H.R. 2037 by Congressmen Cliff Stearns (R-FL) and Chris John (D-LA) seeks to protect the firearm industry from being held civilly liable for the criminal misuse of their lawful products. The bill currently has 173 co-sponsors and has been referred to the House Energy/Commerce and the Judiciary Committees. While enjoying broad, bipartisan support, including a majority of both committees and the House leadership, additional co-sponsors are needed now in order to prompt action on this legislation early in the next session of Congress. With as many as 200 to 218 co-sponsors, the bill’s chances of passage will improve significantly. It is important that Bullet Point readers make a special effort before this session of Congress adjourns to contact your Congressmen and urge their co-sponsorship of H.R. 2037. To contact your representatives concerning this, or other matters, go to the Legislative Action Center site on NSSF’s homepage, www.nssf.org, and you’ll be able to e-mail your representative as well as find other information concerning the latest from Capitol Hill.
