How to Program the SportDOG SD-400 and SD-800 Transmitter

Important: Out of the box, the SportDOG SD-400, SD-400S and SD-800 Transmitters are set to Mode 1(See chart below).  This mode can be adjusted according to your preference.  When your collar is configured to operate in Mode 1 the top button is used for constant stimulation, the bottom button is used for momentary stimulation and the side button will send tone only to collar.

How to adjust the mode:

1.      Pick a mode you want (using the table below) and change the Intensity Dial accordingly.

2.      Flip over the Transmitter.  On the back you will notice a Mode Button (see picture).

3.      Next, depress and release the Mode Button using the tip of a pen or a paperclip. The Indicator Light will turn to a solid color when the button is pressed. Once you release the button, the light will flash the number of times based on the mode you choose.

For instance, you want to use mode 5. First, set the Intensity Dial to 5.  Then press the Mode Button, the indicator light will be solid. You will observe the light flashing 5 times the moment you release the button.

When operating in Constant Stimulation Mode - your dog will feel continuous stimulation for a maximum of 8 seconds even if you still continue pressing the button. If you want to administer correction to your dog again, release and press the button again.

Important: When operating in Modes 5 and 6 -- the upper and lower buttons issue a “High” and “Low” level of stimulation level for the given intensity. For instance, if you are using level 4, the Upper Button will administer a "High 4" stimulation that is less than level 5 while pressing the Lower Button will give a "Low 4" correction that is more than level 3. A stronger correction will be issued by the Upper Button compared to the Lower Button.
