9-month-old Black Lab Male - CHAMP

Champ is a wonderful hunting/companion dog. A friend who could no longer care for him asked us to take him into our kennel and get him started on hunt training.
The previous owner wanted a dog to lay in her house all day, and as Champ has been exposed to the fields and lake behind the house, he started to let the true “hunter” come out in him, chasing up Pheasants and chasing Geese!

Champ is housebroken, and very laid back in the house in general. He does not do well in a dog run, but will sleep in a crate or on a dog pillow in the house with no problems. He loves being around people. He is very affectionate and would do best with kids and a family home.

As for the field, Champ is a water dog to say the least and will retrieve bumpers on land and water with great enthusiasm. He has also been collar conditioned. He is becoming fairly steady but still needs work, and in no time will be ready for multiple marks.

We have introduced Champ to live birds the last few weeks and he shows tremendous energy and drive. He is starting to mouth the birds and should take to retrieving them with a little more work. Force fetching is probably the answer for Champ, although he is starting to get it! All in all, this dog is perfect for a family who may also want to hunt as well!

He really is an all around great dog. I would keep him if I had the space and time for another young dog! Champ is all up to date on any and all vaccinations and is in tact.
