Description:

"Howdy -

The situation regarding the Britts in Eastland Texas (near Abiliene)
is the following:

The owner, who has recent medical problems, & his mother appear to be
in over their head. The mother contacted ABR to help with 4-5 dogs
and did not mention anything about them being a breeder. Patti &
Jim Nitschke with ABR went out last week and confirmed at least 40
Britts & 40 Labs. Living conditions were not good. Muddy driking
water, feces, limited or no shade, multiple dogs in caged areas, dog
tied up to a tree and displaying erratic behavior, etc.

Pattie & Jim Nitschke have picked up 3 male Britts last week. They
have been fully vetted. 2, Cutter & Ranger both age 13 months, are
ready to go and 1, Midnight age 3 years is pending sterilization and
should be ready in a few days. All dogs were HW negative but did
have worms. All dogs are needing foster homes. Pattie & Jim will
send photos.

Pattie & Jim are going out there again today to try to get at least
one more male, age 13 months and 5 - 12 week old pups, 3 males & 2
females. They will also try to get as many dogs as possible. We
have the 5 puppies a foster home - Tami Nabb.

Not all of the dogs are French Britts, some are liver & white, some
orange & white, etc.

I have contacted a shelter / animal rescue group in Abiliene to help
assess the situation. They will be going there today and take a look
at the place and giving their assessment. I wanted another opinion
to the living sitations prior to deciding the next step.

I am hoping that the breeder & his mother will realize that we are
here to help with the dogs. As a last resort I am willing to contact
local authorities that have jurisdiction over this and the dogs will
be taken away. Any suggestions from anyone would be most
appreciative re contacting local authorities or situations such as
this.

What we need from you - Who has foster space, how many dogs can you
take, how can we get them to you, etc. (the dogs are in the Dallas /
Ft Worth area.)

I will keep you updated.

Many Thanks.
