So Close And Yet So Far

Location: Wisconsin, United States
It was a hot summer day in Wisconsin when my lab Otis and I went down to the lake to cool off. While Otis was swimming the lake's edge, two mallards flew in and landed only 30 yards from him. One of the mallard proceeded to swim TOWARDS Otis in what seemed to be some sort of taunting. She would get to within five yards before turning around, leading Otis out towards the middle of the lake. When he had enough, Otis would turn back towards shore only to have the duck follow him back in. This went of for 30 minutes until Otis surrendered and crawled out of the water exhausted from the game of cat and mouse. I laugh every time I look at this photo, and it reminds of why I love to be out in nature and why I love to hunt. You never know what you're going to see!
