Max is a gorgeous male that I bought to be a stud dog for our kennel before we decided not to have setters any longer. He is a son of the now infamous multiple time Champion Hytest Skyhawk who was the first setter ever to win the Quail CH Invitational. Max has style and drive out the wazoo. Unlike his genetics though, Max is not a real big runner. He’s an excellent foot hunting dog with a 20-80 yard range generally. He works great on wild pheasants and quail and is perfect for shooting preserve work. He would probably make a great grouse dog too however with grouse, you never know for sure until you try a dog on them.

Max is fully gundog trained. He points steady to the flush so you kick up the bird and then he goes and retrieves it, backs on sight, retrieves to hand (naturally, not force fetched), is whoa broke, here broke, whistle trained (2 short blasts means turn and come back across, 1 long blast means “here”), collar conditioned and loads to the truck/box. It’s pretty tough to find a setter with this nice of genetics that’s completely finished and ready to go to the field. $3500 (he should be $5500 however this economy is killing value).
