Stan’s story is very unique as he stated out as a pheasant hunting dog. Only after showing uncanny marking ability and a heightened sense of trainability was exploring the possibilities running some hunt tests even considered. He ran his first HRC started test at 14 months and once he received that first ribbon, the race was on. AKC Master title at 26 months. UKC Hunting Retriever Champion at 27 months. Qualified all-age at 28 months and a Master National pass at 30 months. Then Stan got to go pheasant again for a while. After much encouragement, his owner Richard Weis decided to pursue Stan’s all-age career. Under the guidance of Wayne Curtis, Stan now has 10 ½ open points and needs a win to become a Field Champion. Not bad for a pheasant hunting dog.
