Top and bottom are thorough, driven, bird finders that aim to please. They have patience and intelligence, hunt close, mark well, back and retrieve to hand. Both are multi purpose dogs. They hunt quail, pheasant, chucker, dove, snipe, and woodcock in grass, woods or bog.

Both dogs have great stamina and can hunt all day. They have been hunted 6 days a week, as many as 110 days in a year. Over 3,000 birds have been killed over these dogs in a single year.

They are great dogs and their puppies should be too.
