puppy has a genetic condition known as generalized demodecosis

one of the parents is "sundances hearts are wild"
i paid 600 for the puppy - 2 vets have told me she (my dog) must be spayed and never breed
i have been treating the dog off and on for 1 yr now and contacted breeder (david)when my (jody)dog was diagnosised with condition. now its my 3rd time to treat the dog and david cant understand why im hard up for cash?

David Dayl will not provide any guarantee

below is cut and pasted from emails last week

"David,

hope this email finds you in good health and that all is well.
not looking forward to sending this email and have probably put it off to long.

I had discussion with a second vet (second opinion) regarding her ongoing bought with demodecosis,
she will definitely need to be spay. this will be her 3rd (in one year) effort to rid herself of the mites that she is genetically "allergic" to. Each time she has lost hair to the point of bleeding on : all feet, back, belly, sides, neck and face.

David, I would like any offers or suggestions as to anyway we can work this out. I know with as much invested in your dogs you will stand behind your breeding.
I don't know if you are willing to refund exchange or nothing but the 600 I paid for her plus the vets bills are adding up on a dog that will never be more than a yard dog?

please let me know if you have any suggestion or comments

thanks

Jody,

As far as standing behind my breeding I have had three litters out of Trutty's parents with 22 puppies and have heard or seen NO problems like Trutty's. I have had over 60 puppies in the last few years with NO problems like Trutty's. My only experience with this problem was the first shorthair I ever bought which had it very bad as you describe Trutty's and my vet cleared it up within a month.

I can tell you I will not exchange dogs and I will not sell you another. You say she will be nothing more than a yard dog but by your past emails that is all you have asked her to be. There value is as hunting dogs they just happen to make great pets too.

What are you asking for?

David

David,

1 I never said you where selling/breeding problem dogs
2 when i buy the dog its mine to do as i wish - yard dog, breed, train, hunts whatever
3 the dog has a genetic problem which i thought you would stand behind your breeding
(i can get a vet to write a letter if you would like or i can give you a copy of todays vet bill)
standing behind meaning something other than words all im asking is for you to do something other than
tell me your vet fixed your dog (im not as lucky)
4 the vaule of a dog is more than hunting
pedigree - why else would you sell akc and linebreed - your price is based on the closeness of kin to N.F.C X #.
breedablity - if i wanted a spayed dogs i would have adpoted on from the northtexas rescue.

hopefully you dont destroy dogs bases on hunting performace -since that is the "value."

as a breeder one doesnt guarantee that the dog will be a hunter- you guarantee a health dog that the owner can train/teach/ waste as the owner chooses.
im not asking to you do something because the dogs want hunt (that would be crazy) but the sold to me with a heriatry defect.

ill like money back or exchange male or female from whatever gsp puppies you may have (im not picky )
heck ill even take a dog that is under 2yrs i dont care david

if a man buys a vette and never races it does that mean he has wasted the car?
he might have a passion for the car.... dont dislike me because i dont race trutty. i still care for gsp's as a whole
even though i cant make field trials or hunt professionally.

i want you to propose something anything... just dont do nothing

thanks again
jody

Jody,

You obviously didn't understand my email as you don't seem to understand breeding dogs. You seem to be out to make some cash nothing more. I brought up my experience with your problem to let you know I and all others I know of were able to get over the problem fairly quickly. Nothing to do with LUCK but a skilled knowlegable vet. Your right you can do what you want with YOUR dog but I can't be held accountable.

While you are saying in one sentence your not accusing me of anything, you accuse me of things in another. I brought up the many pups I have bred because the only genetic problem I seem to have is YOUR DOG. I will ask other professionals their opinion on this situation and let you know what I can do. It will not involve you getting another dog from me.

David"

ps david keep you money!!! thats not what im after.
