Wow, what a stroke of good fortune! In all my years of breeding I've never had a single GSP that produced the thicker hair coat until now. This hair coat is just fine for warmer climates and is ideal for northern climates and seasonal climates where the winters are cold weather hunting. It is also ideal for hunters who want their GSP to be a dual purpose upland hunter and waterfowl hunter. I don't know if our male will produce it in upcoming litters or not however in the 2 litters he has on the ground right now, every single pup has it so chances are good that he'll throw it again. Funny thing is, I had litters out of 2 of his sisters and neither of them produced it. Welcome to the world of recessive genes!

Most people have never seen or heard of this before so before you go thinking these pups will look like wire hairs or something, I'll explain what the longer haircoat looks like as an adult. From afar, only a trained eye would notice the difference however get up close and you'll see that the guard hairs are about a half inch longer than on a standard haircoat and the hair is also much more dense. It's too bad that all shorthairs don't have it because for everywhere but south Texas, this is the ideal coat for hunting in the United States

The litters are incredibly well bred too with 45 champions in 5 generations! The chances of ever finding this hair coat again in pups this well bred would be comparable to the chances of winning the lottery! Even more rare is that some of the pups are out of a black and white mom so we have one black and white male and 2 black and white females and we also have the same sire that throws the long hair coat pups bred to a solid black female who has produced several BDC and NSTRA Champions that is due in 2 weeks.

All Shady Meadows Gundogs puppy's go through the Bio Sensor/Super Dog Program. Read about it on our website. VERY few kennels in the country put this amount of time into their puppy's and it makes a night and day difference in the quality and health of the puppy. Just to state the obvious: they will be current on all shots and worming, have dewclaws removed, tails docked and come with full AKC registration.
