Within the pedigrees of the Sire and Dam of this litter, there are more than 20 Shorthairs in the German Shorthaired Pointer Hall of Fame (see pedigree information below). Moreover, Heidi’s Sire (National Field Champion, Lb's Ohi Shameless) was voted as a 2004 German Shorthair Field Sire of the Year. Note that Dexter’s Sire was an import from Germany (German Champion Kristan vom Pottsiepen) and within Dexter’s ancestry are many of Germany’s most famous Shorthairs. Finally, it should be emphasized that both Dexter and Heidi have been examined for heritable hip and eye diseases (by canine radiologists and ophthalmologists) and both are free of these diseases. This breeding reflects substantial research that would be difficult to surpass.

Detailed Description of Sire: Ch. Tuckoma Prairie Drk N Dapper, JH (“Dexter”)

Dexter is a magnificent Shorthair with sterling conformation and substantial capabilities in the field. Moreover, he is also very calm and amicable. Shorthairs were bred to be versatile field dogs and loving companions and Dexter is a model of both.

Dexter’s dam is Champion Tuckoma’s Prairie Vixen. Within Prairie Vixen’s lineage are Dual Champion Trekker v. Grunbaum, Dual Champion Hillhaven’s Hustler, Dual Champion and National Field Champion Erick v. Enzstrand, Champion and Kurzhaar Sieger Zobel v. Pregelufer, Champion Tabor’s Zephyr of Orion, Champion Kooskia’s Chief Timothy, Champion Kooskia’s Chief Joseph, Champion Adam v. Fuehrerheim, and the famed German Welt Sieger Ciro vom Bichtelwald.

Dexter’s sire is Kurzhaar Sieger Kristan vom Pöttsiepen. Kristan’s pedigree reflects some of the most distinguished German lines of the twentieth century. For example, the Hege-Haus Kennel of Germany was established during the era before the Second World War and it continues to be dominant. Kristan’s pedigree contains many Shorthairs from the Hege-Haus Kennel, including Kurzhaar Sieger Blanc vom Hege-Haus and Kurzhaar Sieger Yetta vom Hege-Haus. The famed Wasserschling Kennel of Germany also permeates Kristan’s lineage, with Kurzhaar Sieger Condor vom Wasserschling and Kurzhaar Sieger Tuck vom Wasserschling. Significantly, Welt Sieger Ciro vom Bichtelwald is especially prominent in Kristan’s Pedigree.

Detailed Description of: GV Shameless Heidi

Shameless Heidi is an intense field dog and comes from some of the most distinguished and celebrated German Shorthaired Pointers (Deutsch Kurzhaar) of the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries. Shameless Heidi was sired by National Field Champion LB’s Ohi Shameless, and her dam is Grassy Valley Annie. Within her recent ancestry are also renowned dogs such as Field Champion Dixieland Rusty (the leading sire of Shorthair Field Champions), Dual Champion Hidden Hollow’s Ronlord Ruler, National Field Champion Thalberg’s Seagraves Chayne, Dual Champion Gold West Chucko, Dual Champion Oxton’s Minado von Brunz, Dual Champion Oxton Bride’s Brunz v. Greif, Dual Champion Cede Mein Dolly Der Orrian, the prepotent Champion Adam von Fuehrerheim (the leading sire of Shorthair Show Champions), Field Champion Uodibar’s Boss Man, Field Champion Tip Top Timmy, and Jack Shattuck’s famous Rusty v. Schwarenberg (the first Shorthair Field Trial Champion and the first Shorthair Dual Champion; sired by Mars v. Ammertal). Of course, Dr. Charles Thornton was one of the most important importers and breeders of Shorthairs, and among the most potent Thornton Shorthairs in Shameless Heidi’s ancestry are Champion Yunga War Bride and Champion Alnor’s Brown Mike.

THE PUPS

At the time of the sale, the pups will have been de-wormed, will had their first shots, and will have had their tails docked and dew claws removed: medical records will be provided to the new owner. In addition, the pups will be sold with AKC registration papers and a five generation pedigree. Finally, please note that it is of utmost importance to us to ensure the fact that our pups are a “good fit” with potential owners; therefore, we customarily query potential owners about “quality of life” plans for the new pup. Shorthairs are an athletic breed and are not for everyone. Pictures of the pups will be posted on our web site, beginning the week of May 8th.
