Bad design, inferior quality

Summary:I was actually impressed the first few instances I used Tri-Tronics Sport Basic. But after that, I noticed that the unit is not well designed to withstand normal wear and tear. The first one to give out was the collar strap which I was only able to use for about a year. I was very disappointed that the retaining loops on both sides of the collar broke in just a year. I called up the customer service of Tri-Tronics and was really appalled by their response. They practically blamed me and probably the other users who claim the same problem saying that we are locking up our dogs to the collar. They also said that dog owners put too much pressure by grabbing the dog on the collar. All this non-sense but they did change the material they used on the collar on the new units they released. I would never urge other dog owners to buy this product. The customer service is just awful! They even want to charge us $60 for the repair of their problematic unit. I hope this review gets around and other people will learn from my experience.

Summary:We bought the Sport Basic G3 in Sparks, NV and the buzz feature never worked. Today, after about 10 years of not using it (always stored in the orig. box inside the cupboard in the house) I tried charging it and putting a new 9v battery in it and it will not do anything. The red lights come on and it does all the stuff the instructions say it should, but it will not work at all. I called the 800 number listed in the instructions for help and got nothing----the company has no parts or service or anything. All they could do was tell me to try taking it to a dealer to see if a dealer might be able to help. I am going to return to an different brand and throw this junk in the S-can. MONEY WASTED.
Cons:It never worked and there is NO company support.

Summary:I am really upset about the more than $200 I spent for this collar. After using it for only a few months, it just stopped working. I returned it to the company hoping for a replacement but instead, it was repaired and I was charged $60 for the repairs done. I was actually willing to put that behind but after just a year of using it, it stopped working again. Same as last time, the company told us that our claims were not covered by the warranty. It was one of the most terrible and demeaning experience I’ve had with customer services. Two months ago, the unit finally gave out and I contacted the customer service again and we were just told that it’s time for us to buy a new one. I will definitely buy a new unit but it will most definitely not be from Tri-Tronics. I’ve just had enough. I don’t want to waste my money again.
