Product review: SportDog 2525

Summary:SportDog 2525 is worth its price. It is packed with a lot of collar and I’ve seen other collars at the same price range offering a lot less features than the SD-2525. The product is well-built. It is tough and sturdy. One of my dogs jumped into the lake wearing the collar. It is completely waterproof. When we go out hunting, I wear gloves and I have no problems with operating the transmitter button even with the gloves on. You can set up the system according to your preferences and there are a lot to choose from. You just have to study the product carefully to maximize the features. Aside from the stim options, it also has vibrate and tone features. I usually use the stimulation during hunting but other than that, my dogs respond well to the vibrate feature. Programming the collars is very easy. I highly recommend this product.
Pros: Waterproof, Vibrate feature, Recommend

Summary:I got this product about a month ago. I’ve been meaning to train my 2 dogs for hunting and I finally chose this one since there have been a lot of raves about this product. Also, it has a 2-mile range which is great especially if you go hunting. However, after about 2 weeks of use, the batteries on the collar won’t hold charge. At first it was just on one collar then after 2 days, the other collar was acting the same way. The collar dies out after just an hour of intermittent use. Now that’s not such a good training tool. You would want to get a lot of things done in one training session and having to charge your unit a lot of times can hamper the training process. It was actually working well before the problem with the batteries that’s why I’m still giving it 3 stars. I haven’t contacted customer service yet but I sure hope they will send a replacement. I’m pretty sure I got a defective product. Why else would it give out with just a few weeks of use?
Cons:Batteries problem, Defective product

Don’t drop SD-2525

Summary:I bought this collar about a month ago. I bought this to train my 2 pointers. They said that this collar is a “workhorse” and it is fit for different types of breeds. I was also amazed with its 2-mile range. The first few weeks were fantastic. The collar was doing great. It was doing what it says it would do. I have gotten good responses from my dogs. Then I accidentally dropped it while training my dogs. I checked it for any broken or loose parts. It seemed okay. I was complacent since the reviews said that this product is tough and that it can withstand rigorous use. But after dropping it, the collars were not responding to it anymore. I tried removing the batteries and replacing them again but still it didn’t work. I let it rest for a day and tried it the next morning but still, nothing. I called SportDog but they said there’s nothing they can do since I dropped it. It’s really disappointing. I spent a lot of money on this product. I know I dropped it but it should have been able to handle that. At least that’s what I’m getting from all those raving about this product.
Pros:Working fantastic
Cons:Accidentally dropped and after not worked, Disappointing

No luck with SD-2525 product

Summary:I purchased this collar after reading a lot of great reviews about it on the internet. I was very happy at first. The collar was working incredibly. My dogs were responding to it very well and I was able to teach them a lot of voice commands. Then after a few days, the performance just went downhill. My dogs seem to be not feeling the stimulation anymore even if I use the high level stimulation. And even at full charge, the operating range was no longer effective. This product is supposed to work at a 2-mile range but I’m having trouble even at ranges lower than a mile. The product just went hay wire. Maybe I’m just not as lucky as the others who got this product.
Pros:Working incredibly
Cons:Range

Disappointing

Summary:I wish I did more reading about this product before we finally bought it to replace our old unit. Our old dog collar system was still working fine but the batteries won’t hold charge anymore. We didn’t mind having it replaced since we have been using it for the last five years. We have gotten our money’s worth by this time. When I finally tested the unit, I realized that there are only 3 buttons so if you need to control a 4th dog, you would have to flip the tiny switch. And it gets a lot trickier if you have more than 4 dogs and we have 6 dogs. The setup is just too much of a hassle. We’ve used it for a week now and I’ve corrected the wrong dog in more than one occasion because of this confusing setup with the buttons. This is such a bummer. I also noticed that we have to charge it more frequently compared to our previous collar. And sometimes, the batteries just die out on you. I’m not sure why this is happening since I’ve been charging it as instructed. If you want to buy a collar for your dog, don’t buy this one especially if you have more than 3 dogs.
Cons:Dead batteries
