Excellent Performance

Summary:I strongly believe that my dogs are very well trained so I was hesitant at first to buy this collar. But one out of my 3 dogs is quite stubborn. I don’t know if she is just being playful but every time a remove her leash, she seems to forget all of the commands we taught her. Our dogs are not that big so I was really tentative on using the shock on them. But just to be sure, in case I needed to use the shock, I tested it first on me. I found out that it was not really painful. The stimulation came in more of a surprise than a pain. I wasn’t feeling anything below the 20 setting. I did try the highest setting but still it wasn’t painful. I was relieved to have tested it out first. At least I know my dogs will not be hurt. Nevertheless, I still opted to use the vibrate feature which was surprisingly very effective even on our stubborn dog. This is a very well thought of product. It is very easy to use and gives you the results you want. I’m happy with my purchase. Worth every penny!

Be sure to follow the instructions carefully

Summary:The first time I used this product on my dog, she gave a short yelp when she felt the “nick” from the collar. I decided to use only the “nick” feature on my Treeing Walker Coonhound. I advise all dog owners who will use this product to read the instructions carefully. Also, do not worry if your dog gives a weird reaction at first use. This is normal based on my experience. After a while, your dog gets used to the correction and eventually you won’t even have to use it. I can attest to you that the “nick” doesn’t really harm your dog. In fact, it has extremely benefited both of us. It has taught my dog how to behave well so I don’t have to put her on a leash whenever we need to go out of our house. It has been a while since I last used the Dogtra collar on my dog. There was a time though that I had to put the collar back on but she immediately changed her behavior after that. I didn’t even have to “nick” her.

Excellent collar for training

Summary:My Doberman loves this collar. We used to walk around with a leash and my dog just hates it when I put it on him. I think he knows that he’s not free to roam around on his own when he wears it. With the recommendation of a friend, I finally bought this collar. My dog quickly learned how to use it. It has done its job extremely well. I have no complaints. It’s been around 6 months now since I last used the “nick” on him but I still let him wear it whenever we go out for a walk. He gets excited every time he sees the collar. He knows we are going out and that he is a lot freer than when he was on a leash.

Short life

Summary:After about 10 months of great performance, the Dogtra collar started to show signs of deterioration. Our dog trainer recommended this collar to me so I immediately bought this after our talk. Don’t get me wrong, the results I got from this collar were great. I just wished it lasted longer. About 4 months after it showed the first signs of deterioration, the unit completely stopped working. I spent a good deal of money on this product so I was expecting it to last longer.

Bad batteries

Summary:The batteries just won’t hold charge. It’s really disappointing. I bought this collar about a month ago and I haven’t used it without running out of batteries. It’s very tedious to have to recharge it often. It’s too much of an inconvenience. The first few times I used it, it lasted for about 30 minutes only then I had to recharge it. After 3 tries, the unit will not charge at all. I tried to have the unit replaced from the store I bought it from but I was told to contact the manufacturer. So that’s what I did but I have no reply from them yet. I was expecting better customer service given the fact that I paid a lot for this collar.
Cons:Bad Batteries, Dull Charge
