0:44 Hi, I'm George Hickox. We're out here in North Dakota on our training grounds. Today we're going to talk about yard training and field training. They're separate.

0:54 When you have your dog, a young dog, you do your yard training in the yard and your field training in the field. By that I mean all your original obedience work is done in the yard, not in the field.

In the field that's where you introduce him to birds and guns and hunting. He's not in control then. Until your yard training is in place where you've taught your basic obedience commands in the yard, you don't see him in the field. If the dog won't do them with excellence in the yard, then don't do them in the field.
