Scholarships Now Available For Heritage Fund Members

The Hunting and Shooting Sports Heritage Fund Scholarship Program is once again offering $1,000 scholarships to 25 qualifying recipients attending a higher education institution for the 2006-2007 school year.

More Sunday Hunting Opportunities In Maryland

Gov. Robert Ehrlich signed H.B. 205, which allows Sunday deer hunting in Anne Arundel County, Md. The legislation applies to the November bowhunting and firearms seasons for deer on private property with landowner permission. The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance credits the grassroots support of the Maryland Sportsmen’s Association and other sportsmen’s groups in the state with helping the bill advance.

Brady Center 'Report' Off The Mark

NSSF on Friday called the conclusions of "Without a Trace," a gun tracing report issued by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, "ludicrous" and referred those who want an unbiased explanation about the relevance of trace data to the real experts, including ATF.

New E-Mail Service Available To FFLs

ATF is offering Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) a new option to receive ATF information by e-mail. This voluntary service will allow FFLs to receive newsletters, open letters, and important notices by e-mail. The e-mail service will not replace traditional ATF mailings to FFLs.

Times Report: Bloomberg Supports Pro-Gun Candidates

Though New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has focused his efforts on suing firearms industry companies, The New York Times reports that Bloomberg has supported a number of pro-gun candidates in recent years. Not only has the mayor opened his checkbook for these candidates, but earlier this year he held a fund-raiser at his Upper East Side townhouse for U.S. Rep. Vito J. Fossella of New York. Fossella voted in favor of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which ironically is aimed at preventing frivolous lawsuits against the firearms industry – like New York City's.
