Commissioners Trying to Shut Down All Gun Stores In Country

Congressmen Introduce Pro-Gun Bill in House

U.S. Reps. Zack Space (D-Ohio) and Steve King (R-Iowa) have introduced the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act of 2007" (HR 4900), legislation that represents a major advance in protecting the rights of firearms dealers, bringing consistency to ATF enforcement actions and providing ATF with additional compliance tools long sought by the bureau. New Online Resources for Media, Industry

NSSF has unveiled new "Media Resources" and "Legislative Action Center" sections at its Web site, www.nssf.org. The media section -- created as a useful tool for journalists -- features links to fact sheets, issues in the news, story ideas, press releases, videos, a glossary of firearm- and ammunition-related terms, NSSF's complete "Writer's Guide to Firearms and Ammunition" and more. The Legislative Action Center will help keep industry members and others up-to-speed on issues affecting the firearms industry, sportsmen and Second Amendment rights. The NSSF Shooting Sports Summit will be held June 23-25 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo. At the summit, leaders in the shooting sports and related fields will come together to forge new strategies for the future of hunting and the shooting sports. Former Arkansas Gov. With just one month to go, NSSF's Feb. 2-4 SHOT Show® is rapidly approaching and attendees should act immediately in making reservations for events at the show. Anti-Hunter Must Grin and Bear It

A New Jersey man convicted of hunter harassment can add to his rap sheet a conviction of disorderly person, resisting arrest and interfering with state Fish & Wildlife officials when he trespassed and then tampered with a bear trap set for a nuisance bruin. As reported this summer in Bullet Points, Albert Kazemian was captured in the act of pouring human urine on the state fish and wildlife department-placed live trap to discourage bears from approaching. Kazemian has now been sentenced to 30 days in county jail and one year of probation, as well as $2,440 in fines.

Gun Shop Owners Raising Money for Marines

The owners of Bill's Gun and Saddle Shop in Jamestown, N.Y., have organized a fund-raiser for a group of local Marines that have been redeployed to Iraq, reports The Post-Journal. Lucile Frost, who owns the shop with her husband, said the fund-raiser is aimed at providing the troops -- one of which is her grandson -- with sights for the side arms.

Leupold & Stevens Supports Priority Youth Programs

The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA) announced that Leupold & Stevens Inc. has provided all of the spotting scopes requested in support of designated priority youth shooting sports programs. The company donated the scopes in support of programs conducted by the Cary High School Navy JROTC unit in Cary, N.C.; the North Buncombe High School Navy JROTC unit in Weaverville, N.C.; and the Wren High School Navy JROTC unit in Piedmont, S.C.

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Names New CEO

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's board of directors announced it has selected David Allen as the foundation's new president and chief executive officer.

Winchester Ammunition Wins $29M Navy Contract

Olin Corp.'s Winchester Ammunition division was awarded a contract worth up to $29 million for 5.56 mm ammunition used by the Navy and Air Force as training rounds, the Department of Defense announced Friday. Work will be performed at the company's East Alton, Ill., facility.
