Manufactures Invited To Attend Boy Scouts Meeting

Under One Roof

Because of persistent negotiating, creative planning and the cooperation of the Orange County Convention Center, all of the SHOT Show exhibitors scheduled to display in two separate buildings, North-South and West, instead will be in one central location. By utilizing lobbies and meeting rooms, all exhibitors will now be in the West Hall. "It's a win-win situation for everyone," said Jeanette Mannuzza, NSSF's manager of exhibitions & conferences. "For the attendee, it means the convenience of being under one roof and not having to cross a pedestrian bridge or wait for shuttle busses to go from one hall to another. For the exhibitor, it translates into a lot of exposure."

State Of The Industry

Tickets to the annual State of the Industry Dinner are available online and are going fast. The dinner, held on the SHOT Show's opening night, includes a cocktail reception sponsored by Ducks Unlimited, dinner, a "State of the Industry" multimedia presentation and a special performance by comedian Bill Engvall, presented by Versus Country. Tickets for the evening are $90 each or $850 for a table of 10. The event requires assigned seating with priority given to NSSF members followed by order date. Order tickets online now.

Recognizing 10 Years Of NICS

NSSF and its National Association of Firearms Retailers (NAFR) division recognized the 10-year anniversary of the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) on Sunday. The NICS system went into effect on Nov. 30, 1998, with the support of the firearms industry and is designed to screen out those persons who are prohibited by law from purchasing firearms. In its 10-year existence, NICS has fielded more than 92.9 million inquiries. The immediate determination rate -- the percentage of transactions that receive a "proceed with or deny the purchase response" without delay -- is greater than 91 percent. Full Story
