Women Shooters

Media around the country continue to highlight female participation in shooting sports. The latest is the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, which last week featured a story about the growth—and proficiency—of women target shooters. As if to provide proof, the News-Transcript of Farmingdale, N.J., published a story on the extraordinary accomplishments of Florence P. Murphy, who dominated women’s trapshooting from the late 1920’s to the early 1950’s. The legendary Murphy won the women’s state title a record 16 times, and she defeated all comers from the United States and Canada at the 1930 Grand American.
