Times Report: Bloomberg Supports Pro-Gun Candidates Though New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has focused his efforts on suing firearms industry companies, The New York Times reports that Bloomberg has supported a number of pro-gun candidates in recent years. Not only has the mayor opened his checkbook for these candidates, but earlier this year he held a fund-raiser at his Upper East Side townhouse for U.S. Rep. Vito J. Fossella of New York. Fossella voted in favor of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which ironically is aimed at preventing frivolous lawsuits against the firearms industry – like New York City's.
