The Passion A reporter for the Star Tribune, in Minneapolis-St. Paul, sought a shooting range experience, and in so doing discovered the passion of John Monson, owner and operator of Bill’s Gun Shop and Range stores in Circle Pines and Robbinsdale, Minn. "He is interested in helping the less-informed and the curious get to know what his hobby is all about," wrote David La Vaque. The writer referred to Monson’s "list of do’s and don’ts" which “covered everything from how to aim my handgun, ensuring that I kept it pointed down range at all times, to getting in the proper shooting stance." The article, "Rent a Gun and Feel at Home on the Range," stressed the welcoming atmosphere at Monson’s range. "You can come in here without a clue and leave educated," Monson is quoted as saying. "It’s OK to come and say, 'I have no experience with shooting guns, but I’d like to get on the range and try it out.'"
