The Outdoor Channel Earns Annual Achievement Award

ORLANDO, Fla.―The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) presented its annual Achievement Award to The Outdoor Channel (TOC) in recognition of the channel's longstanding efforts to promote hunting and shooting through its award-winning television programming.

"Growing participation in hunting and shooting is the prime mission of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and we've been able to make excellent progress in this area because of the help of companies and organizations that share the same passion for our outdoor traditions. The Outdoor Channel is one company that unquestionably shares that passion," said Doug Painter, president of NSSF.

Painter presented the award to Roger L. Werner, TOC president and CEO, at the channel's Golden Moose Awards ceremony.

"The Outdoor Channel shares a passion for the outdoors with the nation's sportsmen and –women. We are sincerely pleased to receive this Achievement Award and look forward to a new year of working hand-in-hand with organizations, like NSSF, that promote our outdoor heritage and protect our future," said Werner.

For many years, The Outdoor Channel has been committed to providing quality programming, including NSSF's Step Outside TV, that positively positions hunting and shooting, encourages newcomers to give them a try and promotes family participation. In addition, The Outdoor Channel has provided programming time for key NSSF promotional messages that, among others, have directed sportsmen to online directories where they can search for places to hunt and shoot across the country, and encouraged the outdoor community to vote for candidates who share sportsmen's values and concerns.

Additionally, The Outdoor Channel has been an enthusiastic supporter of the industry's Heritage Fund, which works to ensure a promising future for hunting and shooting.

"Companies that make outstanding commitments on behalf of our industry deserve to be recognized," said Painter. "The Outdoor Channel has done an exemplary job of helping the National Shooting Sports Foundation fulfill its mission to grow the ranks of hunters and shooters and promote a positive image of our traditional outdoor activities."

The NSSF Achievement Award was presented during the firearms industry's annual trade show, the SHOT Show.
