Survey Points To Positive Expectations In Year Ahead

In addition to the latest industry trends and statistics on participation, demographics and expenditures, the current release of the 2006 Industry Reference Guide contains results of a post-SHOT Show survey examining the expectations of retailers and exhibitors. The majority of retailers (79 percent) are confident that business will improve in the remainder of the year. Retailers also said they believed they will be more profitable (71 percent) and expect their customer count will surpass last year's numbers (69 percent). More than half (52 percent) expect their overall sales from hunting to increase over last year, while six in 10 expect sales from target shooting to do the same. These expectations are also confirmed by exhibitors responses. Nearly eight in 10 exhibitors at SHOT Show expressed optimism that their business will improve this year, and the same percentage believe they will be more profitable.
