Spring Rifle, Pistol Selection Matches Define U.S. Team

Questions about who would represent the United States at the World Shooting Championships this summer were answered at USA Shooting’s Rifle and Pistol Spring Selection Match held at Fort Benning, Ga., from April 11-22. Earning spots on the team for the July 22-Aug. 5 competition in Croatia are 80 athletes—24 rifle, 26 pistol and 30 shotgun shooters—from the junior and senior ranks, and among those leading the roster are Matt Emmons of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sgt. First Class Jason Parker of Fortson, Ga. Both are former Olympians. Emmons won Olympic gold in Athens in 2004, and he took three first-place finishes at the recently concluded Selection Match.
