After New Jersey passed a law in 2002 requiring only guns with user-recognition technology to be sold in the state once such a system was developed, it was estimated that five years would be needed before the guns were ready for market. Last week, at a demonstration of a grip mounted user-recognition system that was reportedly 90% reliable, it was announced that another 1 million dollar grant of federal money had been made to develop the technology, but that a working system was still at least five years away, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. | |
