San Francisco Postpones Enforcement Of Gun Ban

San Francisco’s city attorney Dennis Herrera announced last week that Proposition H, a citywide gun ban, would not go into effect until at least mid-June while a Superior Court judge considers the issues involved. The measure, passed last fall, bans possession of handguns by city residents except for law enforcement officers and others who need guns for professional purposes. It also prohibits the sale, manufacturer, transfer and distribution of firearms within the city. “We think a voluntary stay is the best, most prudent course in the midst of this litigation,” said a spokesman for Judge James Warren.
