Right To Hunt In Tennessee

RIGHT TO HUNT IN TENNESSEE . . . NSSF is among the supporters of right-to-hunt legislation in Tennessee, where the House has passed the joint resolution and the Senate will likely vote on it next month. Mike Butler, executive director of the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, said, "The reason it is critical to pass this now is twofold: One, we have seen recent activity from anti-hunters in Tennessee and, two, to delay the passage would delay it being on the ballot for six years." If the Senate passes the resolution, the Right to Hunt and Fish Amendment would be placed on the ballot during the next gubernatorial election, in 2010. To become a part of the Tennessee constitution the proposed amendment would need 50 percent of the total votes cast in the governor's race, plus one additional vote.
