Project ChildSafe in Wisconsin

The Wisconsin State Journal has launched a statewide effort to provide gun owners with free gun locks. NSSF's Project ChildSafe was the first to step forward, donating 1,000 firearms safety kits that included gun locks and educational materials. The kits were quickly distributed at state hospitals and clinics. "They're just flying out of here," said a spokesperson at one location. Soon after, a major retailer, major lock manufacturer and others came on board for additional support, the newspaper reports. The State Journal helped launch the effort after the shooting of a principal at Weston High School outside Cazenovia, Wis.
