Privacy For Gun Buyers

A federal judge ruled last week that Pennsylvania’s requirement that buyers provide their social security number to purchase a gun or obtain a concealed-carry permit violates the federal Privacy Act, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. "This issue has been largely overlooked in Pennsylvania and other states for a long time," said lawyer J. Dwight Yoder, who brought the case on behalf of a retired U.S. Army officer from Lancaster. "This ruling is about privacy, not guns. We weren't looking to circumvent gun laws."
