Pistol Match, Raffle To Raise Funds For Cancer Research

When Heather and police trainer Michael deBethercourt’s daughter Isabella succumbed to cancer at 11 months old, after spending most of her short life confined to a hospital, the Police Officers Safety Association (POSA) began a pistol match to honor her memory and raise money for the Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The organization will be holding its second annual match on Oct. 1 in Harvard, Mass. Shooter registration for law enforcement officers and corporate sponsorship of cash and product are now open. In addition, Louder Than Words, a collection of skilled gunsmiths, knife makers and case makers, is creating a package of a customized gun, knife, holster and presentation case to serve as the prize for an online raffle beginning Oct. 1; the winner will be selected at the 2007 SHOT Show. POSA is requesting that manufacturers, distributors and retailers commit to placing a promotional flyer in each shipment from October through December. For more information, contact POSA or Ralph Mroz, 413-774-3512, e-mail ralphmroz@comcast.net.
