Pennsylvania Youth Hunting

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has given preliminary approval to regulations establishing its new Mentored Youth Hunting Program. If final approval is given at an upcoming meeting, mentored youth will be allowed to hunt groundhogs and squirrels in 2006, expanding to include deer and turkey in 2007. The program was authorized when Gov. Ed Rendell signed HB 1690 in late 2005, culminating a broad effort supported by Families Afield founders NSSF, National Wild Turkey Federation and U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance.
