Ordinances Would Affect New Jersey Retailers

The Jersey City, N.J., City Council will vote June 28 on ordinances that would bar residents from buying more than one handgun a month and on a ban of guns with a barrel of 3 inches or less and an overall length, including the grip, of 4 1/2 inches or less, reports the Jersey Journal. The bills were originally introduced with stricter restrictions, but were reintroduced after local firearms owners and retailers expressed concerns. A third bill, making it a crime not to report a firearm lost or stolen within 48 hours, was approved. The ordinances, opposed by NSSF, are a renewed call for New Jersey firearms retailers to join the National Association of Firearms Retailers and the New Jersey Association of Firearms Retailers to ensure they have a strong voice on the local, state and national levels.
