New York University Questions Bloomberg Stunt

More and more observers are doubting that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s crusade against gun retailers will affect crime. Of the 15 out-of-state retailers targeted by the infamous publicity-stunt “sting” and lawsuit, five have settled, agreeing to additional monitoring by the city. Four admitted they settled not because they did anything wrong, but because they simply can't afford to fight Bloomberg. Now, according to the New York Sun, New York University's Center for Research in Crime and Justice says those settlements will at best convince some gun retailers to be more vigilant about record-keeping, but will not prevent guns from illegally entering the city.
