New York Hunters Provide 300,000-Plus Meals Even with the state’s deer harvest down by 20 percent in 2005, hunters, farmers, organizations, sportsmen’s clubs, processors, food banks, resource conservation and development councils, the Farm Bureau and others, under the auspices of the Venison Donation Coalition, processed and distributed enough deer meat for 300,000 meals for needy families.
