New Window to the World of Hunting, Shooting

NEWTOWN, Conn.— Looking for a local place to shoot? A nearby hunter safety course? Info on how to get started in shooting sports? An outfitter for a hunting trip across the country?

For all these topics, plus many more to come, there's now only one Web address to remember: www.HuntandShoot.org.

The trade association for the firearm industry, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), recently launched the new portal site as a one-stop online resource for new or experienced hunters and shooters.

NSSF president Doug Painter said, "The site will grow steadily over time, but already features an impressive array of free services and conveniences for today's recreational gun owner. The site is fast and easy to use, plus a search function allows you to tailor much of the information to your specific area."

The site also offers visitors a 10 percent discount off customized topographic and aerial photo maps, a powerful online process powered by MyTopo.com.

Formed in 1961, NSSF is celebrating its 45th birthday in 2006. The organization recently reached important new milestones, topping 3,000 members and hosting the largest annual trade show (SHOT Show) in the history of the firearms industry.
