NSSF Names New Director of Public Affairs

NEWTOWN, Conn.―The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the shooting, hunting and outdoor industry, has named Ted Novin as its new director of public affairs.

Novin will serve as a spokesman for the firearms industry and oversee a segment of NSSF's communications and media outreach efforts.

Novin brings 10 years of media relations and communications experience to NSSF, including four years as a spokesman for the National Rifle Association. He also served as deputy director of public affairs for Spectrum Science Communications, a Washington-based public relations firm, where he led communications campaigns for some of the nation's top pharmaceutical companies.

"We are excited about Ted's return to the firearms community," said Doug Painter, NSSF president. "His intrinsic knowledge of our issues, ability to work with the media, and dedication to our industry will be a great asset to our membership."

"This is a wonderful opportunity," said Novin. "NSSF is a tremendous organization comprised of smart, energetic and passionate people, all of whom are dedicated to providing trusted leadership to the firearms industry. It's both an honor and a great responsibility to be a part of this team."

Formed in 1961, NSSF is celebrating its 45th birthday in 2006. The organization recently reached important new milestones, topping 3,000 members and hosting the largest annual trade show (SHOT Show) in the history of the firearms industry.
