Minnesota Attempting To Create Funds For Hunting & Fishing

The Pioneer Press reports that the Minnesota house has approved a constitutional amendment to set aside three-sixteenths of one percent of collections of the current state sales tax, which would be dedicated to hunting and fishing habitats. The state senate had already passed a similar measure, but it calls for an increase of three-sixteenths of one percent to the already established rate. Now the two chambers must reconcile the differences between the two versions – which would annually raise a projected $135 to $270 million, depending on the plan – so that an amendment to the state constitution may be presented to the voters in November.
