Louisiana Bill Ensures Hunting On State Lands

A bill that would protect hunting on state land and direct wildlife experts to promote hunting has been introduced in the Louisiana Senate.

Senate Bill 30, introduced by Sen. Joe McPherson, D-Woodworth, would require the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commissioner to recognize hunting and fishing as primary uses of public lands currently open to the sports, to the greatest practical extent.

The bill further directs the Commission to run wildlife management areas, wildlife refuges, public hunting grounds and recreation areas in a manner to support, promote, and enhance public recreational hunting and fishing opportunities.

Senate Bill 30 has been assigned to the Senate Committee on Natural Resources.

Take Action! Louisiana sportsmen should encourage state senators to support SB 30. Urge them to protect hunting lands and state wildlife resources. Louisiana senators can be reached at (225) 342-2040. Sportsmen can also use the Legislative Action Center at www.ussportsmen.org.
