Legislative News Ranges From Good To Bad

Legislatures have raised and upset the spirit of shooters in their respective states because of bills affecting shooting-related facilities. In Minnesota, a Senate committee has approved $100,000 for the Minnesota Shooting Sports Education Center in Grand Rapids. If passed, the legislation would appropriate $100,000, contingent on the matching of $50,000 in non-state funds, for the center, which focuses on shooting sports education, firearm safety and other related activities. In Arizona, state representative Pamela Gorman is sponsoring an amendment to SB 1291 that would eliminate the ability of the state game and fish commission to work with any county, city or town in Arizona to build or maintain a public range. Arizona residents are being urged to contact their state representative to oppose the amendment.
