When NSSF announced the winners of this year's "Good Shots, Great Stories" contest, we were the ones in for a surprise. The Shooting USA TV show won first and second place awards for segments titled "Starting Kids Right" and "Scholastic Trap," features about the terrific success of Tennessee's Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). But the show's executive producer, Jim Scoutten, says he won't take the money. "We're most gratified to be honored for the quality of our work", Scoutten said, "but we're sending the prize money back to help the NSSF continue to fund their Scholastic Shooting Programs that have been very successful in bringing the next generation into the Shooting Sports." The prizes total $1,500. "What a terrifically generous thing to do," remarked NSSF's director of shooting sports development Cynthia Dalena, "and we're very proud that Jim Scoutten feels so strongly about the positive influence our program has on public perceptions about the shooting sports and especially the participation of kids who are in middle school and high school."
