Hunters And Fees In Pennsylvania

Cutting services, postponing needed purchases and leaving staff vacancies unfilled, the Pennsylvania Game Commission is now considering increasing hunting license fees by at least 50 percent. State sportsmen’s groups support an increase but worry about the long-term health of the agency. Meanwhile, agency leaders have given final approval on a separate measure, its Mentored Youth Hunting Program, which could help with future budgetary woes. Designed to welcome more young people into hunting, the program is part of the Families Afield initiative backed nationally by NSSF, National Wild Turkey Federation and U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance.
