How Close is Too Close

A small town in New York state has enacted a new ordinance to protect hunting clubs and preserves, requiring that any new buildings situated on adjoining lands be set back far enough from the hunting property line to guarantee that every square foot on the property will be available to hunters. On the other hand, New Mexico's legislature may soon require hunters to be at least a quarter mile away from the nearest building when pulling the trigger. Read about both proposals in David Dirk's column.
