Gov. Bush's Signature To Help Sportsmen Register To Vote

Florida state House Bill 125 has passed the state house and senate, and upon Gov. Jeb Bush’s approval, the new law will allow purchasers of hunting and fishing licenses to readily register to vote. Under the bill, phone purchasers can request a voter registration form be mailed to them. Online license buyers can link to a voter-registration site. People purchasing licenses from an agent will be offered a voter-registration application to take home, complete and mail. Similar legislation was enacted in Georgia last year. The Florida bill had strong support from the NRA and the Unified Sportsmen of Florida, whose executive director, Marion Hammer, is a past president of the NRA.
