First Shots A Big Success In Oklahoma

Following successful events in Massachusetts, Idaho and Arizona, NSSF's First Shots made a stop at H&H Gun Range in Oklahoma City last week. First Shots events are designed to offer newcomers a welcoming introduction to the safe, recreational use of handguns -- and offer ranges a way to attract enthusiastic new customers. The response from Oklahoma City-area residents was so great, said H&H owner Miles Hall, that an additional class was added to satisfy demand. "The calls just kept coming," Hall said. Attendees of the classes came from diverse backgrounds and a majority were female. Many of the attendees signed up for private lessons and concealed carry classes. H&H plans to make First Shots a regular range opportunity. A survey of First Shots attendees found that more than 92 percent say they will likely continue to participate in handgun shooting after their First Shots experience. Upcoming First Shots events are being planned for California, Pennsylvania and Michigan. For more information about First Shots, visit www.firstshots.org.
