Firearms Industry Responds to Bloomberg's Latest Anti-Gun Efforts

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, once again distorting the facts about legislation protecting law enforcement, unveiled a Web ad Thursday calling for repeal of the Tiahrt Amendment. The amendment restricts access of firearms tracing data to the general public, protecting the integrity of ongoing investigations and law enforcement officers. Bloomberg, however, is intent on obtaining the data for use in preparing civil lawsuits, as evidenced by his "sting" operations last spring that interfered with as many as 18 ongoing criminal investigations. Bloomberg's latest anti-gun efforts are sponsored by his "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" coalition. A 30-second version of the ad will soon air in Washington and selected Congressional districts.
