Helping You Get the Most From Your Hunting Dogs

On Friday, the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission passed two measures to open doors for new hunters. The first is a one-year non-renewable exemption from hunter education class for novices hunting under the supervision of a mentor. The mentor must be a licensed hunter at least 18 years of age. The exemption is good for any species hunted, including big game. The second measure raises from 10 to 12 the age at which a youth must take a hunter education class prior to hunting. Both measures drew applause from NSSF, National Wild Turkey Federation and U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, founders of the Families Afield initiative to help take down legal barriers to hunting participation. | |
