Editorial Applauds Wisconsin Families Afield Proposal

A push is on for the passage of a bill by the Wisconsin legislature to permit young people at least eight years of age to hunt within an arm’s length of a mentor. Only one of the pair may carry a firearm. An editorial in the Racine, Wisc., "Journal Times” on Feb.6 strongly advocated passage of the bill, part of the Families Afield program championed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the National Wild Turkey Federation and the U.S. Sportsman’s Alliance. “That kind of one-on-one instruction … would, we believe, ultimately make Wisconsin’s woods and fields safer places for hunters and non-hunters alike,” the editorial stated.
