ESPN Great Outdoor Games Returns To Lake Placid

ESPN Inc., has announced that the 2002 Great Outdoor Games - the third annual of this extremely popular outdoor sports competition - will be held July 11-14 and initially broadcast on July 20-23 on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC Sports. The four-day event, which drew more than 30,000 spectators last year, will again include events in rifle, shotgun and archery. “We are extremely pleased about the coverage and emphasis given these target sports by ESPN at the Outdoor Games and we are committed to continue to work with ESPN in making these events the premier showcase of our sports to millions of TV viewers,” said Doug Painter, executive director of NSSF. In its release, ESPN states, “The Great Outdoor Games is a key component of ESPN Outdoors, a new division of ESPN Inc. overseen by Michael Rooney.”
