Critical Date Approaches In California

Tomorrow, the state Assembly will begin consideration of a bill the Senate has already passed requiring identifying numbers be engraved onto handgun ammunition components to match a corresponding number on the box of ammo, a number that is registered to the buyer. The bill, SB 357, would dramatically affect the price and availability of ammunition in California if enacted, and a number of pro-shooting organizations are urging California members to voice their opposition to the measure. The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, the National Rifle Association, California Association of Firearms Retailers and the standard-setting organization for the firearms industry, SAAMI, have all prepared materials Californians can find useful in preventing passage of this law.
