Hunting seasons are in full swing across the country and hunters in some states are taking advantage of new opportunities thanks to the firearms industry. For the past four years, the industry, through NSSF's Hunting Heritage Partnership, has provided grants to 33 state conservation agencies with good ideas for recruiting and retaining hunters. For example, hunters in South Dakota can now access 800,000 acres of public hunting land that is being marked by the Department of Game, Fish and Parks. With the industry's help, states are focusing on addressing access issues and working to reach out to newcomers and experienced hunters alike.
